Match.com, arguably the world’s most famous dating website, was unavailable for more than one-and-a-half hours yesterday. The downtime started at 08:02 in the morning, Central European Time, and lasted exactly one hour and 37 minutes according to our monitoring of the website.
The problem doesn’t appear to have been network related. The Match.com homepage was responding, but with an HTTP 404 error code and displaying the error page you see below, stating that the website was having technical difficulties:
Above: Since Pingdom automatically saves the loaded web page when an error is found, we were able to get this screenshot for you.
Though the downtime happened during night time in the US, Match.com operates all over the world, so there are bound to have been quite a few people trying to access the website at the time. According to its website, Match.com has approximately 15 million members globally.
