You may remember in September 2019 when we introduced the new API 3.1. If you don’t, we’ll provide a recap. This update included improved security, simplified implementation and maintenance, and made the API even more developer-friendly, so setup is a snap.
And earlier this year, we also released support in the public API 3.1 for managing TMS checks (CRUD). This allows you to simplify larger deployments of transaction monitors by automating the process of creating, deleting, or updating transaction checks. If you have a lot of important transactions to monitor, you don’t want to feel overwhelmed when managing them. You want it to be simple, easy, and affordable. With this release, you can mass-produce and tag transaction checks at scale through the API.
Easily Export Transaction Check Data
We’re excited to announce added functionality to API 3.1 that allows you to easily export transaction check data into existing systems, into data warehouses for use in enterprise reports, or as a data feed to automation systems like Chatbots.
As you may know, transaction monitoring (TMS) continuously tests a series of steps in a common workflow important to your business—critical transactions like shopping carts, logins, registration forms, etc. We know SolarWinds® Pingdom® customers set up transaction monitoring to ensure peace of mind, so we work hard to make sure you know all is functioning properly and, more importantly, when it’s not.
A Note to Users of Our Old API Versions
While we encourage everyone to update existing Pingdom integrations to our new API version, we’ll continue to support versions 2.0 and 2.1 until December 2020. We’re excited to see what our valued users do with our new API! We hope these improvements help make it easier for you to build amazing things with Pingdom. If there are specific calls you’d like to see in API 3.1, please let us know.
Don’t see your old application keys? Don’t worry—they can all be found on our old API page.
If you’re new to our API and want to understand what it’s all about, here’s a quick refresh.
Integrate Web Performance Insights Into Your Existing Systems
The Pingdom API allows you to write your own scripts or applications using most of the functionality in Pingdom. It makes it easy to leverage web application performance insights generated within your existing systems or portals. The API is RESTful and HTTP-based, which means communication is made through normal HTTP requests.
Here are some ways our customers use the Pingdom API:
- Automate interactions—Automate workflows based on Pingdom availability and performance tests, build a chatbot that can answer questions about web performance, and more.
- Build custom applications—Simplify development by leveraging Pingdom as a key data source for custom applications.
- Integrate into existing systems—Easily integrate Pingdom data into your existing reporting infrastructure for operational, management, and even business reports.
- Add to your data warehouse—Leverage Pingdom insights across your enterprise from within your data warehouse for use by anyone or any application.
